NDS WA in partnership with the Disability Services Commission has established the Disability Support Worker Awards. These awards recognise the valuable role of support workers in promoting the quality of life and inclusion of people with a disability in Western Australia.

More than 450 people attended the 2013 Disability Support Worker Awards on Saturday 16 March 2013 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.  The highlight of the night was the special performance by Emmanuel Kelly, former contestant on the X Factor, and the presentation of seven awards.

The winners and finalists are:

Individual Accommodation Support Award
Finalists: Juliana Roth, Person Supported and Jennifer Colorado Moreno, Senses Foundation
Winner: Christine Kelly, Goldfields Individual & Family Support Association and person supported

Shared Accommodation Support Award
Finalists: Jagroop Gill, Nulsen and Ursula Klein, Autism Association
Winner: Sarah Lenhard, The Centre for Cerebral Palsy

Community Support Award
Finalists: Debora Gomides, Rocky Bay and Russell Cullum, Family Member of Person Supported
Winner: Nerilee McKenzie, The Centre for Cerebral Palsy

Emerging Leader Award
Finalists: Lucy Pearson, The Centre for Cerebral Palsy and Amy Nunn, Intework
Winner: Eamon Rice, Life Without Barriers

Disability Employment Services Award
Finalists: Gina Glendining, Autism Association and Didier Monot, EDGE Employment
Winner:Elaine Green, Workpower

Australian Disability Enterprises Award
Winner: Eric Jarvis, Goodwill Engineering

Regional Disability Support Worker Award
Winner: Russell Cullum, Family Member of Person Supported

The 2014 Awards will be held in April.
